THE NEWSPAPER

The Calvert Independent is Calvert County's oldest and most respected newspaper. From its home in Prince Frederick, this fine community newspaper now boasts a press run in excess of 10,000 copies every Wednesday.

Our growing subscription base is augmented by our many Realtor friends, who introduce new homeowners to the paper, and the local schools and sports groups who utilize commissions from subscription sales as a means of funding activities.

Calvert County has grown from a sleepy farming community of 16,000 people in the mid-1970’s to a thriving, diverse contemporary population.

Our citizens now number nearly 80,000, and the latest ILS. Census figures show that our residents are highly educated, energetic and have the highest per capita income in the state of Maryland. In short, we have serious economic buying power living and thriving right here in Calvert County.
